Do I need Cat6 Ethernet cables for an AvertX system?
Ethernet cables are manufactured to meet specific construction standards. Cables are categorized to establish how they may perform in moving data over a defined maximum distance.
AvertX supplies Cat5e Ethernet cables with new camera purchases.
Cat5e Ethernet cables support Gigabit Ethernet speeds of up to 1000 Mbps, also known as 1 Gigabit (Gbps). Data can be exchanged at a maximum distance of about 300 feet. Its minimum electrical frequency is 100MHz. It currently offers ample capacity to handle the traffic of AvertX cameras and recorders.
Cat6a Ethernet cables has more electrical bandwidth capacity (minimum frequency of 500MHz), which could support data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps but offers the same maximum distance of about 300 feet. Cat6a cables aren't necessary for the current functionality of AvertX cameras and recorders.
